Ottawa is Canada’s capital, set where the Ottawa, Rideau and Gatineau rivers meet. The City of Ottawa has about 1,017,000 residents (2021 Census) and covers the former cities of Ottawa, Nepean, Gloucester, Kanata, Cumberland and Vanier, plus the townships that joined the city in 2001. Highways 417 and 416 connect it to the rest of Eastern Ontario, and the VIA Rail station sits on the Toronto–Montreal corridor.

Buyers look here for federal and hospital employment, two universities, and a wide mix of housing: downtown apartments, established neighbourhoods in the Glebe and Westboro, and newer communities in Kanata, Barrhaven, Stittsville and Orléans.
